Sometimes simply having the data isn’t quite enough. I take joy in transforming large data-sets into compelling visualizations that provide insight into otherwise opaque processes. At the end of 2015, I chose to create a visualization of our email marketing campaign over the course of its first year. I used data gathered from our salesforce instance and Microsoft Excel’s PowerTools plug-in to create the video shown to the left.
My vision for the final version of this visualization would include not just the outbound emails, but calls, email opens, clicks, responses, and sales – all in real time. Imagine being able to view at a glance the areas of the country that your sales reps are targeting and where you are/aren’t getting traction. I would love to build this!
